Dr Amarjit Singh Tanda, an independent candidate for Greenway has stated that if he is elected, he will fight to reduce the unnecessary use of the speed camers, cut grocery, water, electricity bills, and high financial gains and perks to the retiring parliamentarians.
Dr Tanda said that the unnecessary use of speed camers was a cynical money making idea and their impact on road safety was minimal. Dr Tanda said speed was only a significant factor in seven per cent of all road accidents. ''So 93 per cent is due to bad driving and pedestrian error,'' he said. ''Traffic should be slowed down by speed humps on minor roads, where there are accident black spots. Educate children and pedestrians with large signs by lights. Re-test drivers; introduce bans for life for drink drivers.''
Dr Tanda said that there was no good hospital for the residents of Blacktown and Greenway. He said that he would fight for ''an excellent college in this area, so that our children should not have to go far away places for study and waste their lot of time in travelling''.
Dr Tanda also said that retiring parlimentatrians received high financial gains and perks, which could be reduced and added to the pensioner’s rates.
He said he would fight for cutting grocery prices of essential goods including petrol, and would try to reduce water and electricity bills, and well as increase pensions.
