CASTLE Hill's HYPE Central will host its popular all-ages Local Band Night on Friday.
With original songs, dedicated fans and the fiercest talent in the Hills, the monthly gig offers a rare opportunity for new bands of all genres to show their material in a safe, supervised environment.
Headlining the event is My Future Lies, a Hills band racking up serious street cred, having supported international Aussie acts such as The Veronicas and The Living End since it clocked a million Myspace hits last year.
For Castle Hill frontman and guitarist Luke Lukess, playing band night is a chance to return the support that launched them as an unsigned band.
``Youth events are important for bands like us not to snub the younger generation,'' he said.
``Like [local supporting band] A Bad Day's Goodnight, we've played with them before and we've sort of seen them grow up.
``It's cool to be able to let them in on trade secrets and how to get their music out into the market.''
Lukess said it's also a welcome chance to reach out to younger fans that often miss out when their favourite groups play over-18s venues.
``We just want to try and get as many people as we can and it's a bit of a farewell before we go overseas [to the US next year],'' he said.
``The Hills is home for me, so if you do a good gig here, you're proud.
