Australian Idol winner Stan Walker was welcomed by fans at a brief concert at Castle Towers on August 23. He performed songs from his new album From the Inside Out, posed for pictures with fans and signed autographs. Nine months after winning the show, the 19-year-old has already released the successful singles Black Box and Unbroken and platinum-selling album Introducing Stan Walker.
Fashion launch
The Castle Towers Designer Forum store is launching the new kaftan collection by designer Camilla Franks in a fashion parade to raise money for the Bonnie Babes Foundation. The event, on tomorrow at the Hillside Tavern from 6pm will have live music. A $600 designer kaftan will be raffled with proceeds going to the foundation to help premature babies. Territory treat
Ali Mills has been entertaining people in her home town of Darwin for decades and always dreamed of recording an album. The veteran, an integral part of the Mills Sisters, released Waltjim Bat Matilda this year. The title is taken from the Aboriginal language Kriol version of Waltzing Matilda, featured in the album. Mills has opened concerts for Elton John, Tina Turner, Charlie Pride and Pete Murray. She will be at the Castle Hill RSL on September 11 at 8.30pm. Acoustic quest
The Mean Fiddler is giving acoustic singers the chance to showcase skills in a competition called Unplugged, on every Thursday in September.
