The Beaumont Rise community barbecue has been hailed a huge success by organisers.

The Uniting Church host the barbecue at the Roy Dudley Park on August 28 to welcome new residents to the area.

Hawkesbuty-Hills Uniting Church community development pastor Suzanne Hopman said the barbecue had been a good opportunity for residents to meet one another and enjoy an afternoon of family fun.

‘‘More than 300 people attended the barbecue,’’ she said.

‘‘It was a wonderful event.

“Positive relationships formed in new residential estates are important to the establishment of a cohesive community.’’

Residents received a local information kit and had a free sausage sizzle, face painting, craft and family games.

‘‘The weather was just perfect and a great day to build community relationships,’’ Mrs Hopman said.

She said tde church hopes to hold more community events in the area’s new estates.

Beaumont Rise is a new 12 hectare estate in Beaumont Hills which, when complete, will have 168 houses.
