Boy lives after being impaled on scooter

23 Jan, 2012 03:17 PM
A 10-year-old boy has been impaled on his scooter after being hit by a car in Sydney's north-west.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Roxburgh Crescent and Fletcher Street, at Stanhope Gardens, about 12.10pm today.

"A 10-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car," an Ambulance Service of NSW spokesman said.

"The front of his scooter has penetrated his chest."

A CareFlight helicopter landed nearby, but the boy was taken to the Children's Hospital at Westmead by ambulance.

A CareFlight spokesman said the boy was thrown in the air and landed on top of the car, with the scooter impaling him.

The boy was in a stable condition, a NSW Police spokeswoman said.
