THE owner of Eric's Hair Salon at Castle Towers, Jenny Myers, has something in common with the mothers at the Hear The Children Early Intervention Centre at Kellyville: determination.
Mrs Myers ventured into the hairdressing industry as a 15-year-old and became owner of her salon at just 21, with brother Peter Barba.
She was inspired to lend her support to the mothers of the hearing-impaired children at Hear The Children after meeting them and learning of their goal to raise $210,000 each year to keep the centre open.
``To do their own fund-raising is great, I wanted to help out and do something nice for our community,'' she said.
``I wanted to use my expertise to help a worthy cause.''
Mrs Myers will style the hair of the six models at the upcoming Spring Fashion Brunch and will offer advice about styles that are expected to be popular for spring, summer and school formals.
``Loose and messy styles will be big, but I'll be offering lots of different tips and tricks.''
The salon will also donate 10 per cent off vouchers for the gift bags, as well as a hamper of products, worth about $300, for the raffle.
Former Miss Universe Australia Laura Dundovic, a Dural resident, will host the brunch at 10am on September 12 in the Castle Hill RSL cocktail lounge.
$60 tickets include high tea. Web: hearthechildren.org.au.
