Driver must face court

29 Jun, 2010 12:00 AM
A TEENAGER whose red P-plate licence had been disqualified until 2016 is due to appear in court next week.

The police said the young man, 18, of Kellyville Ridge, was seen driving a green Mitsubishi Lancer through the Rouse Hill Town Centre centre at 8.30pm on May13.

The police said that his licence had been suspended over a drink-driving incident. He was charged with driving while disqualified and he is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court on July9.

Over the limit

A red P-plater's licence was suspended after he recorded a positive blood-alcohol reading. Police stopped the man, 23, of Kellyville Ridge, for a random breath test at 11pm on Saturday night in White Hart Drive, Rouse Hill.

He recorded a blood-alcohol reading of 0.085 and he is due to appear in Parramatta Local Court on July12.

Ute hits bus

A ute driven by a Kellyville man crashed near the intersection of Windsor Road and Windermere Avenue at Northmead. Police said the man, 33, was driving a ute in the right lane of Windsor Road about 4.10pm on Monday, June21, and noticed two buses had stopped beside him in the left-hand lane. The driver said a blue hatchback pulled out from the left lane in front of the ute. The ute driver was found not to be at fault.

Police have asked for anyone with information about the blue hatchback to call police, 96805399.

Thieves about

Quakers Hill police have warned residents not to leave valuable items in their cars, especially cars parked in driveways, open carports and on the roadway during the hours of darkness. Senior Constable Sue Carter said the community was becoming complacent. ``Thieves have been stealing items like E-tags, Navman GPS systems, tools, phones, cash, DVD players and several number plates,'' she said. ``People should take these items with them when possible or at least store them out of sight in the vehicle.''

Car-owners should also secure number plates to their car with anti-theft one-way locking screws which can be bought from hardware and auto parts stores. ``Thieves usually gain entry by smashing a window or manipulating a lock,'' she said. ``If you can't secure your vehicle in a garage, park it in a well-lit area whenever possible. It may sound obvious but always remember to lock your car and ensure all the windows are fully closed.''

Anyone noticing suspicious activity around parked cars is asked to report it to Quakers Hill police, 96788999.
