Farm worms or keep chickens

23 Feb, 2010 11:10 AM
A SERIES of free environmental workshops started yesterday for Blacktown residents.

The council-run workshops cover topics ranging from worm farming and composting to no-dig gardening, backyard chooks and natural cleaning.

New workshops this year will include wildlife rescue, permaculture and self-sufficient cooking.

The workshops started yesterday with natural cleaning, where participants learned how to make simple, cheap cleaning products.

They will continue with worm farming and composting on March 4, followed by Chooks in Backyards on March 6.

Learn to build a no-dig garden on March 22.

Permaculture principles, wildlife rescue and self-sufficient chef courses are in May.
