FATHER'S Day can be very lonely for those who have lost their dads.
Traditionally on Father's Day, those honouring their fathers who are still alive wear a red rose.
If a person's father has died, wearing a white rose honours his memory.
Families and friends can honour their loved one by wearing either a red or white rose and attending a Father's Day Memorial Service at Castlebrook Memorial Gardens in Rouse Hill on Sunday, September 5.
The service will honour fathers, grandfathers and other significant father figures who have died.
Castlebrook's Family Services manager, John Lazanas, said the service would give people the opportunity to pay tribute to that special person in their life who may or may not still be alive and remember the significant role fathers and grandfathers play in a family.
``Father's Day has grown to become an important part of our culture today,'' Mr Lazanas said.
``Taking the time to recognise the sacrifices, care and support fathers and grandfathers give is a wonderful way to thank them for all they have done.''
The service will be held at 10am in the Garden Chapel and will be led by celebrant Tony Schembri.
There will be a DVD presentation and guests will be able to light a candle in honour of their loved one.
Singer Eileen McCain will perform and there will be light refreshments after the service.

``We also like to think that attending this service is a good chance for families to come together and support each other on what is often a hard day to face alone,'' Mr Lazanas said.
