THE Stanhope Village shopping centre's recent Surf & Turf art competition gave primary school pupils a chance to express themselves on canvas and win art supplies.
The pupils were given blank canvases 182centimetres long and 60centimetres high during Education Week to produce an artwork that captured the essence of beach and country landscapes.
Schools to take part included Rouse Hill Public School, John Palmer Public School, St John's Primary School, Kellyville Ridge Public School and William Clarke College.
Stanhope Village marketing manager Sylvia Lenarcic said each had the chance to win $3000 of art supplies for their school.
``The main criteria of entry is for students to have fun, work as a team and explore their imagination and creativity to produce a painting that reflects each environment,'' she said.
The artworks will be submitted on September 3 and entries displayed at Stanhope Village, corner of Sentry Drive and Stanhope Parkway, Stanhope Gardens from Monday, September 6 to Thursday, October 14.
Vote for your favourite painting to be in the running to win a $500 Kmart voucher from the centre.
