MP seeks rail answers

29 Jun, 2010 12:00 AM
STATE MP Michael Richardson has questioned whether the Castle Hill Showground would be replaced by housing after The Hills Centre rail station was built.

He asked in state parliament whether the showground would be kept or developed with medium- and high-density housing. ``According to the environmental assessment, The Hills Centre station has the lowest predicted patronage of any station on the line just 40per cent of the passenger demand at Franklin Road,'' he said.

``There will be enormous pressure on Governments in the future to increase passenger numbers at that station and the easiest way to do that would be to convert the showground to high-rise.''

He received an answer that ``The Land and Property Management Authority has not considered any alternative use for the Castle Hill Showground site for when The Hills Centre Station is completed and functioning''.
