New Kellyville aged care facility offers more choice

21 Jun, 2011 12:23 AM
A NEW aged care facility in Kellyville will set new standards for people who choose or need to move out of their family homes, its developers say.

Work on the Baptist Community Services development in Kellyville began with a ceremonial sod-turning recently.

The Gracewood Community development will offer residents a choice of where and how to live.

The $166 million development will be built in stages, with the first stage to include 73 independent living apartments, a wellness centre with swimming pool, gym, hair salon and medical rooms, as well as a club house with a chapel, coffee shop and restaurant.

Stages two, three and four will include a 160-bed residential aged care facility and 158 independent living apartments.

Baptist Community Services chief executive Ross Low said the development would create 180 construction jobs, and more jobs once it was complete.

"We're both proud and privileged to be able to commence construction on a development that we believe will maximise the independence and wellbeing of seniors, while also providing choice of care and ageing in place options," he said.
