PIZZA was the order of the day when a group of Rouse Hill youngsters got together for fun and games on Thursday.
Rouse Hill Families Connect held a pizza-making morning for local families as part of a program aimed at teaching children the benefits of helthy eating.
The event was one of the activities leading up to the launch of the Kids Patch Garden, the aim of which is to get Rouse Hill youngsters to create their own community garden.
Pizza Chefs, a business which runs pizza-making parties for parties and corporate functions, organised pizza paddle races and other games before helping the children to make their own mini pizzas and cook them in a portable oven.
Rouse Hill mum Melinda Parry said the Families Connect program was a great benefit to the area.
``It's a great resource for the mums of the community,'' she said. ``It promotes new experiences for the kids.''
She also praised the pizza- making event. ``It gives the children ideas about how to explore new foods,'' she said. ``Pizza is particularly good because they're experiencing a variety of vegetables they might not usually try.''
