IT was all smiles for the pupils at Mary Immaculate primary school at Quakers Hill when they won $10,000 in the Stanhope Village Activate Your School competition.

The initiative aimed at keeping children active, saw friends and families battle it out with receipts to earn points for their school to win up to $20,000 worth of sporting equipment.

Mary Immaculate principal Ian Jordan was ecstatic with the result, and credited the school and key staff for their success. Mr Jordan said a number of suggestions were already flowing in from the pupils.

``The whole school community became involved and much was fun was had by all,'' Mr Jordan said.

``Schools are always in need of resources and now there is even more excitement as to what to spend it on.''

Mr Jordan said priorities would be determined among the staff to evenly and effectively distribute the funds across the school.

St John's primary school at Riverstone were runners-up in the competition and also had a taste of the grand prize, scoring $4000.
