School's sizzling first election

24 Aug, 2010 01:00 AM

SAUSAGE sizzle fund-raisers are as much a part of election day as enthusiastic election helpers handing out how to vote pamphlets and stressed polling officials.

John Palmer Public School in The Ponds, which opened in 2008, hosted its first polling booth on Saturday and its first election day sausage sizzle.

Parent Tony Brooks said the P&C had bought 600 sausages for the day in the hope of raising $1000 for the school.
