PLASTIC shopping bags were among the first things to bite the dust after environmental-awareness campaigns.
Now the continuing desire to be green and the increasing access to web resources are changing the way we work.
Image consultant Lin Seesink belongs to The Hills-based Sydney Women's Network and runs her business from home.
She has seen many changes to the way she works.
These include printing on both sides of a page and providing online versions of the style guides she creates for clients, with clothing options to suit their body shape and colouring.
``Before, I used to print and send it to 150 people on my mailing list,'' she said.
``Most of those people have email now and that saves an awful lot on printing, paper and postage.
``People also used to call me and ask `Can you send me some information about what you do?' Now I just direct them to the website.''
Ms Seesink is not surprised that emails and ebooks are becoming more used than their printed paper counterparts.
``Because they've become a natural way of life, you don't stop and think about them so much.
``In putting that message out there, I think it's helping people to see what they can be doing to help the environment.''
