ANTI-BULLYING expert Brett Murray likens the challenge to eradicate bullying to the challenge of a gruelling triathlon.
It's tough, requires focus and may be a long road, but it can be done.
To highlight the journey and raise awareness in his bid to stop bullying, Mr Murray will take part in the Cairns Challenge Triathlon next year.
"I'm focused on keeping the conversation about bullying going to raise awareness and eventually I hope we can eradicate it," Mr Murray, from West Pennant Hills, said.
Set in one of the world's most iconic tropical locations, the 2012 event will feature a 3.8 kilometre swim in the waters off Yorkeys Knob, a 180 kilometre bike leg travelling up towards Port Douglas and a 42.2 kilometre run before competitors finish in the heart of Cairns.
Mr Murray's journey and commitment to raising awareness for anti-bullying initiatives will be featured in a ONE HD documentary covering the event.
Mr Murray is keen to be a strong competitor with a goal to finish in the top 20.
He has received sponsorship from a number of corporations and local businesses.
"The community has really gotten behind this effort and I'm humbled by the support," he said.
"It really shows how passionate the community are about stopping bullying too."
¦ Mr Murray is seeking a local business or corporation that can lend or give him with a competitive bike for the event. Details: 0406 446 899 or brettmurray.com.au.
