All Hills residents aged 12-24 are eligible to nominate for any or all of seven categories including arts and culture, environment and science, education and training, business, sporting achievement, young achiever and youth ambassador.

Daniel Berry, who won last year's Challenge and Change award, said he hoped his story would inspire others.

``My life has been a challenge over the last three years,'' Daniel said.

``I was diagnosed with a brain tumour three years ago.

``At the time I didn't know what the future would hold but, since then, I have decided to make the most of every opportunity.

``My favourite quote sums up what these awards mean to me: `Challenges are what make life interesting, overcoming them is what makes life meaningful'.''

Mayor Peter Dimbrowsky said the awards offered the opportunity to young people who had achieved great things to ``shine'' to the rest of the community.

Nominations must be made online through council's website using the e-request process at thehills.nsw.gov.au.

the awards night will be held at the council chambers on Friday, October 8.
