Castle Hill's Effe Diamond in 1200km charity cycle race

21 Sep, 2010 12:00 AM
CASTLE Hill Fitness First manager Effe Diamond has been picked to race for NSW in the inaugural NSW v QLD 1200km charity cycling race.

Thirty cyclists will practise on stationary bikes on Friday.

The practice warm-ups will take place in Martin Place and in Queen Street Mall in Brisbane.

They will raise money for the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation.

Event organisers are hoping to raise more than $300,000 for respiratory research.

NSW event organiser Kathryn Adams said it was about pitting state against state, and cycling mate against cycling mate.

"We want to see who can, as a group, ride 1200km in total on stationary bikes, in the fastest time possible," she said.

Riders will use this event as practice for next month's seven-day bike race from Sydney to Brisbane.
