KELLYVILLE Ridge Public School were among the best 26 Australian rules teams from across the state to compete in the open primary schools competition, the Paul Kelly Cup, at Blacktown last week.
After easily conquering the Hills district and Western Sydney with several comfortable wins, Kellyville Ridge were drawn to play in the cup alongside fellow Group F entrants Neutral Bay, Jerrabomberra and Finley public schools.
The preliminary phase in Group F was fiercely contested with only first-placed Finley Public School on four points advancing to the knockout stages. Kellyville Ridge finished in second place with three points after beating Finley 2.1 (13) to 2.0 (12), a draw against Neutral Bay 4.4 (28) to 4.4 (28) and a loss to Jerrabomberra 2.1 (13) to 3.2 (20).
Team coach Luke Hogan said his team represented the school with honour and courage.
