Kim ranks with best on court

THE Hills District Tennis Association keeps churning out champions.

Kimberley Luttringer, who attends William Clarke College in Kellyville, has joined its factory line-up of stars after winning the girls doubles under-16s titles at the 2010 Hills Winter Junior Open, hosted by the association at its three centres.

Kim as she prefers to be called doubled with Linda Damico from Dural in the event, which drew 280 entrants from far and wide, including the ACT.

The open, organised for ages under-12s, 14s and 16s, is an Optus Junior Tour Australian Ranking tournament, according to development officer Linda Bestford.

The April event drew entrants from New Zealand, country NSW and Victoria, she said.

The Australian Ranking is the mathematical method of ranking Australian tennis athletes on a calendar-year basis.

This was a first time win at an open for Kim and Linda, who also reached the final last year.

``It was a team effort really,'' said Kim, 14, of Baulkham Hills.

The pair play in the Saturday Afternoon Singles competition at Caterson Tennis Centre.

The Saturday junior competitions, which are all graded, attract 330 entrants every week.

Kim is also member of the Hills District Tennis Association's training squad.
