SYDNEY Adventist Hospital are set to receive much-needed funds with the news Canterbury Bulldogs second-rower Chris Armit will auction his signed and framed club jersey.
Armit and his wife Kristie, both of Glenwood, wanted to say thanks to the hospital after their first child Cruz Armit was born six weeks premature.
``We just want to assist them in any way we can,'' Armit said.
``The hospital told us that they could use some new special machines, so I went back to my club and asked the boys to sign a jersey so we could auction it off and raise some funds for them.''
Kristie, 26, was rushed into hospital suffering from pre-eclampsia.
``The doctor told me that the condition can be fatal so he booked me in straight away for an emergency delivery,'' Kristie said.
A happy and healthy Cruz Armit was born on June 14 weighing just 2.41 kilograms.
Kristie told the Hills News she wanted to thank everyone in the hospital's special care nursery.
It appears baby fever is growing at the Bulldogs as partners of teammates Michael Ennis, Brett Kimmorley, David Stagg, Steve Turner and Andrew Ryan have all had children this year.
``I suppose it's really becoming a family club here at the Bulldogs now,'' Chris laughed.
The framed and signed jersey will be auctioned by Greys Online this week.
