THE world of one fairytale doesn't begin and end with the words on each page in Between The Lines.
The book was written by best-selling author Jodi Picoult and her daughter Samantha Van Leer, who will visit Castle Hill Library on July 24.
The tale follows Delilah, a 15-year-old girl with an obsession for the fairytale she found on the shelves at her school library.
Already an outcast after accidentally breaking the head cheerleader's knee, Delilah keeps her interest in the book — and its handsome, intelligent, but not-too-brave prince — a secret.
Despite the usual ingredients of castles, villain and dragon, Delilah feels there is something deeper going on. There is.
The prince is real and needs help.
Picoult said she was excited to see the book published.
"Between the Lines was Sammy's idea, and frankly she's got a better imagination than I ever did at her age," she said.
"It's about what happens when happily ever after isn't."
The event will be in Castle Hill Community Centre's Pioneer Room, 14 Pennant Street, on July 24, 7.30pm-8.30pm. Tickets are $10. Bookings: 9761 4510.
